The Pool Renovation Process

We ensure a professional, compliant, and durable renovation, broken down into three main stages: Prep, Plaster, and Startup.

Phase 1: Preparation (Prep)

This phase focuses on safety, substrate integrity, and adherence:

  • Pool Drainage & Safety: We turn off the equipment and drain the pool using a dedicated pump. We then pull the main drain plug to equalize groundwater pressure, preventing the pool shell from "popping" out of the ground—a vital safety step.
  • Surface Inspection: We check the existing finish for any hollow areas, which are removed if found. We also undercut/chip around all tile lines and the light.
  • Surface Treatment: Sandblasting is performed if the pool has paint or fiberglass. The pool is then thoroughly washed and cleaned of all debris.
  • Bonding Agent: Florida Stucco Bond Kote is applied to the clean surface, ensuring the new plaster achieves a proper, lasting bond.

Phase 2: Plaster Application

This phase involves careful application, adherence to safety standards, and initial washing:

  • Final Checks: The plaster crew double-checks the existing finish for any new hollows and corrects them immediately.
  • Safety Compliance: A new frame is installed over the main drain, ensuring compliance with the V.B. Act.
  • Application: Florida Stucco material is mixed on the truck to maintain a clean jobsite. It is then delivered and applied:
    • Coat 1 (Scratch Coat): Applied to the wall.
    • Coat 2 (Finish): Applied by hand and troweled to a smooth finish.
  • Finish Exposure: We perform a water wash and acid wash to thoroughly expose the 3-M color quartz for a vibrant finish.
  • Initial Fill: We start filling the pool using filter tanks with an auto shut-off for the cleanest water possible (to avoid mineral staining). Important: Never stop the water until it reaches the middle of the tile line.

Phase 3: Startup & Curing (The First 30 Days)

Once filled, we complete the installation and provide critical curing instructions:

  • Startup: We return to start the pool equipment and install the eyeball fittings.
  • Post-Fill Care & Curing Recommendations:
    • Brushing: Brush the pool surface at least once per day for the first two weeks to remove cream and help expose the material. Wash the filter cartridge to remove any trapped cream.

30-Day Restrictions: Do not use the pool cleaner, pool heater, or salt system for the first 30 days while the new material completes its critical curing process.
